Summer Reading Challenge This year’s challenge is: “Story Garden - Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors”. Open to children up to the age 11 years. Free to join and the children will earn rewards and receive a certificate ad medal when they complete the challenge. Runs from 5 July up to 13 September. Research indicates that reading levels can decline during the summer holidays, a phenomenon often referred to as the "summer slide". This decline is more pronounced in children who do not engage in regular reading activities over the break. Some studies even suggest that children can lose up to two months of reading skills during the summer. By encouraging your child to participate in the Challenge you can help to avoid this “summer slide”. Summer Activities for Children We are hosting a number of free childrens activities over the summer holidays. Open to all ages. No need to book.
